Comp II unit 10

Wow! This is the end of this class. This class has gone by so fast and I have learned a lot. I want to say thank you to my professor and all the other students I shared class with. This has been a tough class for me because I am not a good writer nor do I enjoy writing. Thanks to my professor and classmates I feel it was not so bad. Now that I know more about writing I have to admitt it was more enjoyable also :). I hope the best for everyone in their future and hope you all did well on you papers.

Comp II unit 9

Wow I can't believe the end is here. My paper is just about completed and I can not believe that I was able to write a 6 page paper. I am excited to have completed the paper yet nervous for how well I might have done. I feel i am a better writer since I have competed this coarse. I learned how to organize and put the scientific evidence in order to make a sensable paper. I really appreciate the feed back from other peers in my class ; it helped me a lot! I hope everyone has enjoyed this class as I did. Good luck to everyone's future.

Comp II unit 8

Well it looks like I have almost made it through this coarse :). Still having some trouble with making my paper meet the required lenght but I am getting there. This blogging thing has been kinda fun and I wish I would have had more time to spend writing to others. It has been hard to get the required work done with out doing extra writing on here. I do not think I will have time to continue blogging after this class but possibly when I am done with school. I am glad however that I got to experience blogging because I have never blogged before. I have heard of blogging but never really knew what it was or how to start blogging. I hope everyone has had a good experience blogging as I did.

Comp II unit 7

The past 6 weeks has been interesting. This is the first time I have done a scientific paper. The research I have come across is kinda scary. I am doing my paper on identifying and treating adolescent depression. During some of my research I have discovered that adolescent depression is on the rise, mainly from bullying and poor self esteem of teens. I also found that stories of some as young as 11 and 12 years old that have murdered due to depression. I can not believe someone of that age can committ a murder. That is so young, not even raised yet. It is scary to me to think that children that young and immature have access to weapons that can committ such a crime. It is also sad to hear about the poor family lives they have. Well I need to make my paper a bit longer so I am open for any ideas that may go along with the treatments and identifying of adolescent depression.

Unit 6 Comp II

Well I finally finished my rough draft. I have such a hard time getting enough information for my paper to meet the length requirements. I am not a good writer and nor do I enjoy writing. I have a hard time sitting for long periods of time which is why I think I do not enjoy writing. I am more of an outdoor type person. Does anyone else have trouble writing? What are some tips you may have that helps a person get through it? I have tried writing a little at a time but for a 6-10 page paper it takes a lot of time to get the paper together.

Unit 4 Comp II

Well hopefully I have deleted my other blog and everyone will be able to find me here. So as you all know this class requires a minimum of a 6 page paper. I have been using the brainstorming and annotating methods to come up with enough ideas for this long of a paper. Since I have never written a paper this long I do not know if I have enough information. I understand you should have at least 10 references but does anyone know an idea of how many ideas can lead to this large of a paper? I know when I wrote a 4 page paper it was easy to judge the ideas by paragraphs but with this large of a paper it is hard to do it that way. Maybe I could count on 2 - 3 paragraphs per idea? My paper not being long enough is where I get most of my deductions. You would think as much as I like to talk that my paper would be plenty long enough! LOL. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Unit 4 Comp II

I am very glad there are rules about plagiarism to avoid others from stealing others work. I have a story to tell you about my daughter and plagiarism. My daughter Kendra is in the 9th grade this year. She broke her wrist in cheerleading and had to sit out of gym for 2 months. During this time her gym class was swimming and she was made to write a report on a famous swimmer. She was unable to write due to her wrist so she typed her paper. When she received her paper back she saw that she received an "F"! She has never had an F in her life and she knew she was going to get in big trouble. Needless to say she showed me the paper and I noticed she received her F because of plagiarism. She had copied and pasted a paragraph because she was getting tired of typing. I trully do not think she meant to plagiarize because she said to me, "The whole paper is my own words except that paragraph". I explained to her that she did not put it into quotes. She did not think she had to since it was cited. I explained how to put something in quotes if you write it word for word. I also told her to apologize to her teacher and explain to her that you misunderstood how to cite it. The teacher was nice enough to let her redo that paragraph the correct way or otherwise she would have failed gym class. Who fails gym class!!!! LOL! This shows how serious plagiarism is. Has anyone else had an experience with their childeren when it comes to plagiarism?
